San Miniato in Pagnolle

La piccola chiesa parrocchiale del XII se-colo è situata sui monti sopra le sorgenti del Falle e poco a Ovest del torrente Sie-ci, percorrendo la strada che collega la pieve di Monteloro alla pieve di San Marti-no a Lubaco. La chiesa è documentata per la prima volta in una bolla di Pasquale II del 1102. Già nel 1301 fu istituita come parrocchia, in seguito, dal 1606, fu accor-pata al patronato dei Marchesi Guadagni. L’edificio presenta una pianta a capanna con coperture a capriate in legno, sui lati dell’unica navata sono presenti due con-fessionali, adornati con archi in pietra. All’esterno della struttura il portico fu ag-giunto alla costruzione soltanto nel XVI secolo e il campanile a vela presenta una merlatura molto singolare.

San Miniato A Pagnolle Church

The small 12th century church is located in the mountains above the springs of the river Falle, to the west of the Sieci stream, along the way from the Monteloro church to San Martino a Lubaco. It was men-tioned for the first time in a papal bull of Pasquale II in 1102. In 1301 it became a parish church and afterwards, in 1606, it passed under the patronage of the Guadagni Marquises. The building has a typical Romanic structure with a precious wooden roof truss. On the sides of the only central aisle you can admire two beautiful confessionals, with stone arches. The entrance portico was later built in the 16th century, and the bell tower is deco-rated with particular battlements.
