La chiesa, anticamente denominata “Sant’Angelo a Sieve”, risale al XIII se-colo. Grazie all’accresciuta importanza del borgo e alla costruzione della linea ferroviaria (Firenze-Roma) fu completamente rifatta nel XVIII secolo e consa-crata nel 1788. L’edificio settecentesco fu distrutto durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, venne restaurato nel 1948 e nel 1971 il pre-sbiterio fu modificato se-condo le norme liturgiche del Concilio Vaticano II. Al suo interno sono conserva-te alcune tele del XVII se-colo provenienti da chiese ormai abbandonate del territorio parrocchiale. Sull’altare maggiore era un tempo collocata La Madonna col Bambino del Beato Angelico, esposta oggi alla Galleria degli Uffizi.

In ancient times the church was named “Sant’Angelo a Sieve” and dates back to the 13th century. It was completely rebuilt in the 18th century and was consecrated in 1788 thanks to the growing importance of the town and the railway line (connecting Florence to Rome). The 18th century building was destroyed during WW II, and restored in 1948 and 1971. The presbytery was modified following the liturgical norms of the Second Vatican Council. Inside the church you can find a collection of 17th century paintings coming from abandoned churches in the territory. On the main altar, the beautiful painting Madonna col bambino (Madonna with child) by Beato Angelico used to be found but it is now in the Uffizi collection.
