Il 29 settembre è San Michele Arcangelo, patrono di Pontassieve. Secondo la tradizione San Michele è capo supremo dell'esercito celeste, degli angeli fedeli a Dio. Nell’iconografia cristiana è comunemente rappresentato alato in armatura con la spada o lancia con cui sconfigge il demonio, spesso nelle sembianze di drago. A San Michele è dedicata la Chiesa di Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II con il Santo che compare nel rosone centrale in un mosaico a vetro recentemente restaurato.

The 29Th of September is St. Michael’s day, patron saint of Pontassieve. According to tradition, St. Michael is commander-in-chief of the heavenly army of the angels who are faithful to God. In the Christian iconography, St. Michael is usually portrayed in the winged armour, with a sword to kill the devil, often in the form of a dragon. The church in the Vittorio Emanuele II square is dedicated to the Saint, who appears in the main rose window which has been recently restored.
