I Cerchi ad Acone

La famiglia dei Cerchi ha origine nel territorio di Acone, frazione montana di Pontassieve, prima di trasferirsi a Firenze e diventare tra le più potenti casate della città. Citati anche nel Canto XVI del Paradiso di Dante (... i Cerchi nel piovier d'Acone...) già dal XIII secolo hanno una loro società mercantile e bancaria che portano avanti come impresa familiare. Del castello di Acone, documentato fin dal 1079, non rimane traccia, se non quelle legate alla sua trasformazione in antica villa che negli anni ha subìto numerose modifiche.

The Cerchi family in Acone

The Cerchi family came from Acone, little village on the hill of Pontassieve, before moving to Florence and becoming one of the most powerful families in the city. Mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy, from the 13th century on the Cerchi owned their banking society they lead as a family business. Today the only trace of the Acone castle, mentioned in a document dating back to 1079, can be found in its transformation into an ancient villa which underwent numerous changes over the years.
